The latest release from The Horrors is nothing shy of a goth/shoegaze masterpiece! Though Primary Colours, the 2009 release is quite a bit less punk, and quite a bit more in the new wave direction, It still holds true to the raunchy sound and rough around the edges feel that The Horrors are synonymous for. As much as ive enjoyed it, i cant help but feel it a little too reminiscent of Sid Vicious' transition from thrashin bassist of the Sex Pistols to boring pop soloist. Its almost too similar in the video for Who Can Say with the black stage and white tux jacket. I cant say i dont love the transition, but i can say i miss the torn t-shirt and teased hair...

As usual the trip was a blast, despite the plaguing injuries including broken ribs and bum ankles. Sadly the weather lived up to the forcast and was pretty typical, gloom and doom mixed with showers. All in all a good time with good friends, and epic sessions with the likes of Brian Anderson, Elisa Steamer, Frank Gerwer, Nestor Judkins, Keegan Sauder, Damian Bravo, the real ams, Asian James, Jabary Pendleton, Joey Johnson, Two Hawks, and so many other local and foreign rippers it was incredible.

The Mattson 2!!!

I have been extremely fortunate in knowing the prolific prodigies themselves for quite some time and I do have to say that the epic nature they have in person transcends beautifully into music. Jonathan and Jared Mattson make incredible jazz music and look damn good doing it. The Mattson 2 have been touring the world for what seems like years and just recently released a full length thats bound to inspire anyone. If your in the PNW they are playing a few shows before heading way out east.

(Glam Rock extravaganza. The Cute Lepers fronted by the briefs Steve-E Nix power pop surf rock combined with the PrimmaDonnas LA glitter and Glam make for an amazing evening well worth the money. (though i do have to say they could be a bit more original considering if they're not playing Johnny Thunders, New York Dolls, or Ramones covers they're screeching out originals that may as well be half rate B sides from the aforementioned bands. But, they are fun and who doesnt love a good New York Dolls Cover? )

(Consistently tough, the vibrators will belt their way through a solid set that is bound to leave someone on the floor in stitches. Local opening act The Blax embody the spirit of starting a punk band in your parents garage. Young loud and snotty filled with anger and anguish and wielding songs ripping through social and political injustices, theyre bound to please anyone.)

Possessed with the howls of wolves, spitting and dancing across the length of the stage, Duane Peters WILL offend, scare, and enthrall you and have you loving every minute.)

Hailling out of SD, a mix of several bands that have come and passed including SD post punk heros The Plot to Blow Up The Eiffel Tower and raunchy no holds barge rock n roll band The Vultures. An amazing mix of new wave art media, punk/post punk, and garage rock. Essentially artsy rock that should be consumed by the masses. Theyve got a full tour coming up in the next few months and are most defiantly worth going to see, especially considering theyre touring with the likes of Mika Miko, The Faint, and Ladytron.
